The Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Abia State branch, has suspended its 5 months old strike
In a communique jointly signed by the Chairman, Isaiah Abali; and Secretary, Daniel Ekeleme, the suspension was sequel to the frank discussions with the new administration in the state which, NMA said, had shown commitment to defray the arrears of salaries.
The NMA Chairman, Abali said the resolution came as a result of promises made by Governor Alex Otti to tackle the perennial salary arrears of it’s workers among other demands.

Abali expressed confidence that the Governor will keep to his words and put an end to constant industrial action of health workers in the state.
Recall that Doctors embarked on an indefinite strike due to non-payment of salaries among other demands, during the administration of former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu who failed to heed to their demands.
