President Bola Tinubu has suspended the Governor of the Central Bank Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele, from office with immediate effect.
According to a statement issued by the Director of Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey, the Suspension is the sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.

The statement adds that the President has directed Emefiele to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor in charge of Operations, Adebisi Shonubi who will act as the Governor pending the conclusion of the investigation and the reforms.
