The Governor of Enugu State, South East Nigeria, Peter Mbah has expressed shock over the news of the passing of the Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Nigeria’s first private broadcast stations, High Chief Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi on 29th May 2023.

In a condolence message personally signed by Governor Mbah, he described the late High Chief Dokpesi as a “prodigy and a man of many paths, who impacted Nigeria and humanity in many respects”.

“From the shipping industry to the broadcast industry and the political terrain, High Chief Dokpesi distinguished himself as an entrepreneur, democrat, patriot and a cosmopolitan gentleman and leader”

The Enugu State Governor observed that High Chief Dokpesi will greatly be remembered for pioneering the hitherto uncharted waters of private broadcasting in Nigeria, a platform he selflessly deployed to defending and deepening democracy in Nigeria in particular and Africa in general.

Governor Mbah says the death is a great loss not only to the Dokpesi and the DAAR Communications family, but also to the Nigerian media industry and the entire nation.

He urged the Dokpesi family to find solace in the life their patriarch lived and the legacies he bequeathed.

The Governor on behalf of his family and the people of Enugu State joins the rest of the nation in mourning late High Chief Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi and also joins to appreciate God for the blessings that the High Chief was to the country and humanity.

He prayed God to grant his soul a peaceful repose, and support the family with the inner strength to bear the irreparable loss, the message concluded.
