The preferred candidate of the All Progressives Congress and member representing Zaria constituency of Kaduna State, Tajudeen Abbas has emerged as Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives with 353 votes.
Abbas defeated two others including the deputy speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, Idris Wase to emerge as the Speaker of the House having exceeded the simple majority of 181 seats.

Former Deputy Speaker of the House, Idris Wase polled 3 votes while Sani Jaji Representing Kaura Namoda, Birnin Magaji Federal constituency of Zamfara State scored 3 votes.
