The member, representing Udi North State Constituency, Uche Ugwu has emerged the Speaker, after the proclamation of the 8th session of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Tuesday.
Ugwu who is of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP emerged Speaker despite being from the minority party in the chamber.
The 24-member Enugu State House of Assembly has 14 members elected on the platform of the Labour Party, while the rest 10 lawmakers are of the PDP which produced the Governor of the State.

In his acceptance speech, the new Speaker assures that the 8th Assembly legislators will work with the Executive arm of government to deliver the expected dividends of democracy to the people of the State.
Uche Ugwu, a former deputy Speaker in the 7th Assembly is soliciting the cooperation of other members to enable the legislatures achieve the expectations of the people.
