Seven PDP Working Committee Members Dump Party

Ahead of November 11, 2023, Imo governorship election, Seven members of the State Working Committee of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, on Sunday, announced their resignation.

The aggrieved members accused Senator Samuel Anyanwu of sponsoring violence against the party, and personally chose his deputy without consulting the party.

Addressing Journalists at the party’s secretariat in Owerri, the Spokesperson of the group who was the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Collins Opurozor said the candidate of the party for the November 11, 2023 governorship election Samuel Anyanwu, does not have what it takes to govern the state.

In a statement signed by the aggrieved exco members, they alleged that since Senator Anyanwu became the National Secretary of the party, he has not relented in deploying the powers of his office to fight members of the Working Committee as well as intimidating other members of the party.

The seven working committee members who expressed their dissatisfaction tendered their resignation from the party.

Although they did not disclose their next line of action, they, however, revealed that their next line of action would be made public soon.
