The people Of Lokoja, Kotonkarfi, and Ajaokuta Local Government Areas have rejected the verdict of the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja that annexed their towns as part of the Igala kingdom.
Twelve lawmakers including members of the national and state assemblies representing the three local government areas converged on Lokoja and distanced themselves from any annexation proceedings of their ancestral land.
Indigenes of the affected areas also said that the pronouncement of the court ceding their land to the Attah of Igala is unacceptable. They insisted that for the plaintiff to lay claim to a case ongoing since 1940, it is most unacceptable.
They are also of the view that the action of the claimant and the reliefs sought failed to take cognizance of the cordiality of relationship between the component ethnic units of Kogi State and is capable of causing a breach of the peace.

The reaction came following last week’s judgment of the Federal High Court in Lokoja in a matter between the Attah of Igala, Michael Ameh Oboni, and the Attorney General of the Federation where Lokoja, Kotonkarfi, and Ajaokuta were declared part of Igala kingdom.
