Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki’s re-election ambition on the platform of the All Progressives Congress has finally been shattered as the Party’s Appeal committee on Saturday, upheld his Disqualification by the screening committee.
Although Obaseki did not appeal the decision of the screening committee that disqualified him on Friday, the appeal committee further enumerated the reasons for the Governor’s Disqualification.
This includes Obaseki’s refusal to inaugurate the 14 members of the state house of assembly, despite what they described as President Buhari’s intervention and the party caucus of the National Assembly.
Chris Ogiemwonyi was the only aspirant who sought the intervention of the appeal committee.
He, however, failed in his bid as the Appeal committee confirmed the discrepancies in his certificates.

Though another candidate Mathew Iduoriyekemwen did not appeal the decision of the screening committee, his fate was also sealed by the appeal committee
The next step is for the National Working Committee to ratify the Candidates’s Disqualification.
