At least three persons have been reported dead as part of the Oko-erin bridge in Ilorin west local government area of Kwara State collapsed in the early hours of Sunday following a heavy downpour.
Ait reports that a toyota avensis with registration number lrn-978fe with five passangers plunged into the community river and only two people were rescued by the locals.
An eye witness, chinebe emmanuel said he made an attempt to stop motorists from plying the route having sensed danger towards the bridge but the vehicle refused and unfortunately plunged into the river.
While also confirming the incident to AIT, police public relations officer, Kwara state command, Ajayi okasanmi noted that one dead body was retrieved along Coca-cola road while they are still searching for two more bodies.

He maintained that the cause of the accident was due to indiscriminate disposal of refuse into the river by the residents.
Similarly, sector commander of the federal road safety corps (FRSC) in Kwara state, Jonathan owoade advises motorists to always take caution while driving under raining condition.
