The Abia State Deputy Governor, Ude Oko Chukwu has warned that the government may be forced to take stiffer measures to reduce the spread of COVID 19 if Abia residents continue to disobey the government’s directives.
Speaking at a meeting with members of the State Joint Task Force on Covid-19 at the Government House, Umuahia, the Deputy Governor insisted that the rising cases in the state were a result of careless behaviour of some people, especially the Aba residents.
The Deputy Governor who said that the state is expecting two molecular laboratories to be installed noted that it will encourage massive testing of Abia residents.

Oko Chukwu appealed to the people of the state to be more responsive to the virus and implored all to continue praying for the speedy recovery of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu who according to him is in stable condition and responding to treatment.
