The Lagos State Police Command, Friday disclosed that it has commenced investigation into a rival cult clash that claimed three lives and injured some on Wednesday night, around Shomolu -Bariga axis of Lagos.
Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin who confirmed the incident, added that no arrest has been made.
The incident which has threw the area into pandemonium is a result of the cultists’ intention to wreak havoc on the 7th of July, to mark their yearly celebration and a continuation of a power tussle which led to the death of a member of the Aiye confraternity.
Hundeyin in a chat with AIT, further stated that the command is fully aware of the implication of the date 7/7 and is prepared for any eventuality assuring Lagosians of their safety.
The commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Idowu Owohunwa had earlier identified cultism as one of the security challenges facing the state and that the command has arrested about one hundred and twenty cultists, and recovered not less than sixty firearms in the last five months.
