The Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC Zamfara State Council, and his Trade Union Congress, TUC Counterpart, Sa’idu Mudi, are appealing to government at all levels to provide palliatives to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal on workers, and improve productivity.

They appealed while speaking with ait.live on how Zamfara workers are coping with the hardship being faced, as a result of the petrol subsidy removal by the Tinubu administration .

Zamfara State Government workers have not enjoyed the Eighteen Thousand Naira National Minimum Wage, even the Thirty thousand Naira Minimum wage that the Buhari administration initiated.

Though the former Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Mohammed, had promised to implement the Thirty Thousand National Minimum Wage, it failed, despite signing a memorandum of understanding with leadership of the organised labour in the state.

The state’s chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Comrade Sani Halilu, and his Trade Union Congress of Nigeria counterpart, Comrade Sa’idu Mudi, expressed hope that the Dauda Lawal-led administration will look into the plight of Zamfara workers, to improve their welfare and enhance productivity.

The NLC Chairman, Comrade Sani Halilu, called on leaders at all levels to be sincere and honest in whatever agreements and promises made to workers, to reduce the hardship imposed on them, due to the removal of petrol subsidy.

The state’s chairman of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, Comrade Sa’idu Mudi, on the other hand, wants Zamfara State to make provisions, to alleviate the sufferings of workers, decrying that workers in Zamfara State are experiencing untold hardships, as a result of the petroleum subsidy removal.

The State labour leaders revealed that they have planned to meet with Governor Dauda Lawal to discuss the challenges being faced by Zamfara Workers, and the need for his administration to tackle them.
