The Nigerian Employers’ Consultative Association, NECA says Nigeria’s global position at 59th in manufacturing, with only seven percent in non-oil export is further threatened, following institutional and technical bottlenecks.
NECA is also calling for a total withdrawal and not suspension of the proposed new tax regime.
It is the closing of a two-day employers summit in Abuja, and how to remove impediments to achieve improved and productive non-oil trade export, dominated discussions.
Participants at the Summit also warns against the dangers of multiple taxation and how it continues to raise inflation rate, thereby Deeping poverty.
The need for government to cut cost of governance was also discussed at the summit with the theme: Trade and non-oil export, changing the narrative.
