Governor Uzodimma Raises Minimum Wage, approves palliatives to cushion fuel subsidy removal impact

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, South East of Nigeria has announced a new minimum wage of N40,000 for workers in the State.

The increase is aimed at cushioning the harsh economic effects of Nigerian government removal of subsidy on petrol, which has raised inflation and the cost of living in the oil rich West African country.

Governor Hope Uzodimma is mindful of the economic hardship and pains the recent removal of subsidy from petrol by the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal government has thrown the citizens into.

The Governor has therefore chosen this special meeting with stakeholders in the State to unveil a number of welfare packages for the workers and citizens.

The audience comprises; religious leaders, politicians, farmers, traders, labour leaders, among others

Governor Uzodmma unfolds several palliative packages for the State workers and other citizens as a way of cushioning the hardships the people are going through.

Apart from the N40,000 workers minimum wage, State Civil servants are to enjoy free transportation, feeding and medical care, while a N5 billion revolving loan will go to farmers.

The Governor reassures residents that government is not relenting in ensuring that the security situation in Imo state is effectively resolved, hinting that his administration will soon launch a-10 year development plan, the first in the history of the Imo State.
