Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris has urged traditional rulers to be symbol of peace and unity in Nigeria.
He stated this at the turbaning ceremony of Aliyu Abubakar as Sarkin Zabarmawa of Western Nigeria by Alhaji Haruna Mai Yasin Katsina held in Lagos.
This was made known through a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Ahmed Idris handed to Journalists at Birninkebbi capital of Kebbi State.
According to the Statement, the governor, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Political matters Kabiru Sani, said the call became imperative in view of the critical role of traditional institutions in promoting peace and National cohesion across Nigeria.

According to him, traditional institutions being the custodian of culture and tradition must set the pace for others to follow.
He then admonished the newly turbaned Sarkin Zabarmawa of Western Nigeria to justify the confidence reposed in him by carrying the people along irrespective of tribe, ethnicity or political affiliation.
The occasion was attended by people from far and near including; AIG Shuaya’u Yari in-charge of Force Intelligence, government officials, politicians as well as business associates among others.
