FRSC Begins Clampdown On Vehicle Overload

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has started to clampdown on motorists who overload their vehicles with passengers or goods Nationwide.

The Corps Marshal, Dauda Ali Biu, said this during a media chat in Abuja on the need for drivers to stop overload to help avert road traffic crash on the nations highway.

Overloading of vehicles in Nigeria has remained one of the major factors causing road traffic crashes on the nation’s roads, a menace which the management of the federal road safety Corps has continued to frown at.

The Corps Marshal therefore advised commercial motorists nationwide to desist from overloading their vehicles for safety reasons as the corps will continue to apprehend and punish drivers breaking traffic rules.

Ali-Biu further outlined some of the challenges encountered when motorists overload their vehicles and how such acts affect the passengers and vehicles in the event of a crash.

Authorities of the FRSC however said that with the help of the Judiciary Mobil courts set up in some locations across the country will assist in the prosecution of those traffic offenders, particularly Trucks overloaded with passengers and goods.
