The Inferno which wreaked havoc on over 100 shops in the market according to eyewitness, started from one of the shops in the fruit section and later spread to other shops destroying goods worth millions of Naira.

Those who spoke with ait.live at the scene of the incident called on the National Emergency Management Agency, the Cross River State Government and public spirited individuals, to come to their aid.

While assuring the affected shop owners of quick government Intervention, Director-General of the Cross River State Emergency Management Agency, Princewill Ayim, who was on ground to assess the situation said quick help will come from all the tiers of Government.
