Police arrest suspect over murder of Gynecologist in Zamfara State

Zamfara State Police command has apprehended one of the suspected killers of consultant Gynaecologist Dr Enoch Okpara of the Federal Medical Centre, FMC Gusau.

The Commissioner of Police, CP, Usman Nagogo, said the suspect Abubakar Namalika was arrested by personnel of Operation Puff Adder at Lalan area of Gusau metropolis.

CP,Nagogo said the suspect was on a mission to kidnap one of their targets at the lalan area in the Gusau metropolis when he was apprehended.

The suspect, Abubakar Namalika who confessed to the gruesome murder of late Dr. Enoch Okpara at his residence at Mareri community in the outskirt of Gusau metropolis,added that a five man gang carried out the dastardly act.

He further stated that a notorious bandit leader Alhaji  Shehu Bagewaye  known as Maijan Ido forest in Gusami district of Kaura Namoda sent the suspects to the late Dr.Enoch Okpara house to commit  the crime under the guidance of his younger brother Alhaji Tukur M. Who knows the area inside out.

The commissioner of police, assured that the police will intensify effort to ensure that the fleeing suspects are apprehended and charge to Court for prosecution.

Medical Director of the Federal Medical centre, FMC Gusau, Dr. Mohammed Bello opined that the arrest of one of the suspected killers of consultant gynaecologist doctor Enoch Okpara will go along way to allay the fears of medical practitioners in the Hospital.

 Dr. Enoch Okpara was gruesomely murdered and his corpse set ablaze by unidentified armed men who invaded his residence on 13th June, 2020 at the Mareri community in the outskirt of Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.
