The trial of kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Bala popularly known as Wadume and six others standing trial before the Federal High Court, Abuja for illegal gun-running and kidnap for ransom among others was on Tuesday stalled following the absence of the trial judge, Justice Binta Murtala Nyako.

Ruling on the bail application of the defendant at the last sitting, Justice Binta Murtala Nyako said she saw no reason granting Wadume and others bail after she had given the case accelerated hearing.

She therefore ordered that Wadume and those charged along with him be remanded in Kuje Correctional Facility in Abuja.

Justice Murtala Nyako also emphasized that the defendants must be moved to the prison with unhindered access to their lawyers and medical facility.

Two more prosecution witnesses, however, testified against the defendants with one of them narrating how he was ordered by a soldier to break the handcuffs from the Hamisu Bala.

Trial was adjourned to 13th July, 2020.
