In Calabar the Cross River State Capital ,the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress members, Came out in their numbers to join the Nationwide protest, despite police barricade with amoured tank and patrol vehicles at strategic locations in the city to stop the planned peaceful walk.
The NLC had fixed 2nd of August to proceed with its planned protest against recent fuel price hike, tuition fees hike in public schools and withheld salaries of lecturers and workers in universities among others.

Speaking with Journalists during the protest, Chairman of NLC in Cross River State, Comrade Gregory Ulayi, said the current situation is unbearable to workers.
The Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Peter Odey, said the government will take immediate action to reduce suffering of the people.
The Peaceful Protest under heavy downpour, saw workers moving from the Labour centre through Mary Slessor, IBB Road to the State House of Assembly and the Governor’s Office in Calabar.
