Air safety: Banjul Accord members highlight NIgeria loopholes

The Banjul Accord Accident Investigation Agency, BAGAIA, has advised Nigeria’s National Safety Investigative Buraeu, NSIB, and other related agencies in the aviation sector to prioritise the documentation of air accident or incident reports to remove airlines in Africa from various blacklists worldwide.


BAGAIA commissioner, Charles Ehrueh gave the advise at the first peer review exercise held in Abuja
The peer review which began on Monday is to benchmark system processes and procedures to enable African airlines meet up with global aviation standards.

NSIB Director-general, Akin Olateru, who is also one of the technical committe members investigating the contaminated aviation fuel detected from the Max Air plane after an air incident in Yola, told journalists that the inquiry is still ongoing.


The MaxAir incident led to the supension of the airline’s 737 Boeing aircraft operations and it resumed flights two weeks after the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA lifted the temporary ban.
