Police in Katsina say they have succeeded in rescuing 3 abducted victims which include 2 students of the federal university Dutsinma and another 55-year-old man in the Dutsinma Local government area of Katsina state.
A statement by the spokesman of the police, Assistant Superintendent Abubakar-Sadiq Aliyu, the two students are Ibrahim Abdulwaheed, Abdulrahman Abdulwasiu, and 55-year-old Dauda Magini.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on August 3, 2023, at about 2 pm when terrorists in their numbers, wielding dangerous weapons, invaded Bayan Radio quarters, situated at the fringes of Dutsinma Local Government Area, and kidnapped the aforementioned victims.
Aliyu added that upon receipt of the distress call, the Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Musa, immediately mobilized and deployed the Area Commander Dutsinma, Divisional Police Officer Dutsinma, and the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit led by Chief Superintendent of Police, Andrew Alphouse to the scene for a search and rescue mission.

He added that the combined squad tactically located the victims and successfully rescued all of them unhurt after which, the victims were immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
The CP commended the rescue team for their display of uncommon bravery and gallantry stating that the command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property of the people of the state.
