The Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has read the riot act to suspected criminals hibernating in parts of the state to turn a new leaf as the “Operation Crush”, a security Initiative designed to tackle crime and insecurity rolls out in the State.
Governor Otti was speaking at the launch of the scheme in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, South East Nigeria, noting that the programme is a strong and coordinated response to the lingering insecurity in the State which has affected lives of the people negatively.
The Governor who observed that the new security programme is in line with his promises at inauguration, adds that there will
be zero tolerance to any act of criminality in the State.

Governor Otti is however charging the personnel involved in the security operations to be brave and ruthless to criminal elements, but cautioned them to guard against harassment of innocent citizens.
The launch which featured distribution of the first batch of 20 Hilux vans for the scheme attracted the presence of Heads of security agencies, traditional rulers, among others.
