Nasarawa joins list of HYPADEC states

The Federal Government has approved the inclusion of Nasarawa State into the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission, HYPADEC allowing the state to access interventions from the Commission.


HYPADEC Managing Director, Abubakar Yelwa informed Governor Abdullahi Sule of President Tinubu’s approval when they met in Lafia.

The Nasarawa State Government appealed to the federal government for inclusion into HYPADEC to enable it benefit from its interventions and alleviate the plight of flood prone communities in the state.


The state government is also in discussion with HYPADEC on the need to harness its hydroelectric capability at Farin Ruwa to generate 25 megawatts of electricity.


HYPADEC was established to address ecological challenges arising from the operations of hydroelectric dams.
