Some Abuja-based lawyers have called on the Inspector general of police, Kayode Egbetokun, to intervene in the continued detention of an Imo state-based journalist, Chinonso Ubah, who has been in the custody of the Nigerian Police Force, since he was arrested on July 27, 2023.

Counsel for Ubah, Maxwell Opara, leading other lawyers told a news briefing in Abuja that his client’s arrest followed a publication made by him on social media accusing the Imo state governor of masterminding series of murders in the state but wondered why he has neither been charged to court nor granted bail.
