Police in Katsina say they have gunned down a suspected terrorist and recovered an AK 47 rifle, 110 live ammunition and 60 rustled animals during an attack in Korogo Village of Jibiya Local Government Area.

A statement by the Police spokesman, Assistant Superintendent, ASP Abubakar-Sadiq Aliyu, the incident occurred in the early hours of August 15th.

According to him, the command received a distress call that terrorists in their numbers, armed with dangerous weapons, shooting sporadically, invaded Korogo village via Daddara, Jibiya Local Government Area, and rustled 60 sheep.

Aliyu said, upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer of Jibiya mobilized a team of Police operatives to the scene and engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun duel, as a result of which they were forced to abandon their heinous mission and scamper into the nearby bush.

While combing the scene, the body of one neutralized suspected terrorist, 60 rustled sheep, as well as one AK 47 rifle with 110 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, were recovered.
