The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Kokumo, has warned against electoral violence in the September 19, 2020 governorship election in the State, calling those who may want to foment trouble to have a rethink.
The Commissioner of Police gave this warning when he inspected an Amoured Personnel Carrier along with the Chief Security Officer of the State, Governor Godwin Obaseki in Benin City.
As the clock ticks steadily to the September 19 Governorship election in Edo State, key players tasked with the responsibility of ensuring that the exercise is hitch free are engaged in various activities.
Since the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has set guidelines for the conduct of the election taking into cognisance the coronavirus pandemic,
Political parties have started campaigns to solicit for votes from the electorate.
The Nigeria Police Force says it is charged with the responsibility of maintaining law and order all through the election and beyond saying security has also been beefed up in the riverine communities.
CP Johnson Kokumo therefore wants politicians and the electorate to go about the process in a rancour free manner.
