Ahead of the September 19 governorship election in Edo state, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in collaboration with the International Federation on Electoral System, IFES, has commenced training of Electoral Officers, EOs, and Assistant Electoral Officers, AEOs, on polling and counting procedures in the Benin City, the state capital.
The three days training of the EOs and AEOs, according to the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Johnson Alalibo, is designed to sharpen the skill sets of the officers in conducting transparent, credible, and acceptable Governorship election in Edo State in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic and to consolidate on the progress made so far towards credible elections.
The event which is taking place at three different venues to ensure observance of physical distancing witnessed strict compliance to the laid down guidelines on COVID-19.

Participants who are drawn from the 18 Local Government Areas of the state are expected to adhere strictly to the covid-19 protocol.
