Zamfara Govt. introduces N3,000 Conditional Cash Transfer to students, Almajiri

Zamfara State government has introduced 3, 000 Naira Conditional Cash Transfer for out of school children and Almajiri per term in other to keep them out of the streets

The Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Board in the state, Abubakar Maradun, stated this while speaking exclusively with AIT news in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

He was speaking on the plans to improve basic education in the state.

The 3, 000 Naira Conditional Cash Transfer introduced by Zamfara State is designed to ensure that out of school children and Almajiri are enrolled in school, with no complaints that their parents cannot afford the school materials.

The state government has also initiated e-learning programme for primary and junior secondary school students, to keep them busy at home and ensure they do not loose out completely, during the Covid-19 lockdown.

The Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Board, Abubakar Maradun describes the e-learning programme as a huge success, which will be continued with even after the Covid-19 lockdown.

He said the Bello Mohammed administration in the last one year has constructed about six hundred blocks of classrooms, renovated three hundred and equipped them with computers.

There were also training and promotion of teachers, to enable them give their best to provide instructions to the students.

The Chairman of the Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board observed that prior to the Mohammed administration, schools in rural areas were closed down, due to prevailing insecurity in the state, but with the peace initiatives of the state government, all schools have been reopened across the state.
