The Nigerian Union of Local Government employees (NULGE) in Plateau State has declared a total and Indefinite strike action in the state until the leadership crisis between the Suspended Elected Chairmen and the Newly inaugurated Transition Implementation Committee chairmen is resolved.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Plateau State Chairman of the Union Yohana Arondon and made available to newsman in Jos the state Capital on Sunday.

The Union took the decision after an emergency state executive council meeting held Sunday in Jos where it also disclosed that they want Nigerians and concerned authorities to know their Predicament.

The Union said it earlier received a directive from the Police based on the Bukuru court order with great joy as workers who were eager for such a development resumed work in earnest, but their joy was short-lived when the 26th August press release by the Police Authority signed by its PPRO titled ” Total Unsealing of 17 Local Government Secretariats and offices of the Local Government Chairmen in Plateau State” was issued.

According to NULGE, the Contents of the press release were at variance with the earlier directive where upon the press release is asking for the suspended Local Government Chairmen and Councilors to resume office on Monday 28/08/2023.

According to the leadership of the local Government employees, the decision has become necessary in order not to allow innocent members of the union to be caught in the web of the latest police release and stressed that it will only resume when all issues have been resolved.
