The Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Federal Universities has denied allegations contained in a publication of offering bribes to members of the House of Representatives Adhoc Committee investigating job racketeering in federal agencies.

Vice Chancellor, University of Jos, Prof. Ishaya Tanko, who made the denial when the group appeared before lawmakers on Friday explained that the only money recently contributed by some university professors was for an international workshop which will take place in Birmingham, the United Kingdom in September.

Acting Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, John Maiyaki, who expressed confidence in the committee’s commitment to resolve employment issues in Nigerian universities, described the publication as regrettable.

Chairman of the Committee, Yusuf Gagdi, maintained that the publication was aimed at diverting the attention of the committee, but assured the lecturers that it will not be distracted from the mandate given to it by the House of Representatives.

The committee chairman also said members have resolved to take legal action against the online medium if investigations by anti graft agencies failed to link the published account number to any member of the committee
