Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye says she is working towards facilitating skill acquisition and vocational training programmes for female inmates and detainees in correctional facilities in the country.
The women affairs minister said this during a visit to the Suleja Custodial Centre, located in Niger State, where she provided palliatives to over five hundred female inmates and detainees, She said the programme is essentially to help the female inmates and detainees to improve themselves after their terms at the facility.

This, she said would require the approval of President Bola Tinubu and the cooperation of development partners to provide more tools and equipment to fund the project.
The Minister paid off the fines imposed by courts to get some detainees off the hook while promising to seek further intervention to get assistance to some of the inmates.
