The demolition of a commercial five-storey building worth millions of naira, owned by Olufunke Daniel, wife of the former governor of Ogun state, Gbenga Daniel was carried out early Sunday by the State government .
Persons believed to be agents of the state government began the demolition exercise at about 3 a.m local time Sunday .
A press statement released by agent managing the property, Adeyinka Kotoye described the incident as unfortunate, noting that even a court injunction restraining the state government from demolishing the building served on September 7 was not obeyed by a government that allegedly commits to rule of law and justice as parts of it’s electoral campaigns .
The statement further noted that the court will be approached in the coming days in the face of latest disregard to a previous ruling.
The state government while speaking on the demolition, said the erection of the building Contravenes Ogun state Physical Planning Laws.
A statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Olayiwola Abiodun noted that the structure violated the building codes of the state with numerous defects.
