Ndukwe claims that the suspects were perfecting plans to enforce the illegal Monday sit-at-home order in the State when security agents stormed their base and dislodged them.

According to the Police statement, three of the suspected gunmen who opened fire on the joint security team, were killed while several others allegedly escaped with gunshot wounds in an ensuing gunfight.

Three pump-action guns, ten machetes, and other exhibits were said to have been recovered when the security operatives combed the forest area.

The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, is advising citizens to look out for individuals with gunshot injuries and report same to security agents, while urging residents to go about their lawful businesses as the police and other security forces are determined to sustain the onslaught against criminals operating under any guise in the State.
