Following the Federal Government’s plan to reopen schools for exit and JSS 3 classes across the country, the Bayelsa State Government has announced August 5, 2020 as date for the commencement of preparatory classes for this year’s national examinations

Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Walter Liverpool and his counterpart in the Ministry of Health, Apoku Nathaniel told AIT that preparations are in top gear for the training of teachers on COVID-19 protocols, provision of sick bay in all schools with trained health officers among other measures aimed at reducing the risk of Coronavirus infections.

Schools in Bayelsa State have remained like ghost towns since the closure of all Institutions of learning across the country by the Federal government in March 2020 as a result of the ravaging Coronavirus pandemic.

However, these centres of learning in the State will again become a beehive of academic activities when students of senior secondary school three and junior secondary school three resume on August 5th being the proposed date for the national certificate examinations

The permanent Secretaries Ministries of Education and Health, highlight some of the resolutions at the meeting between Governor Douye Diri and critical stakeholders.

The state government is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring a safe and healthy environment for the students

This first phase of schools resumption perhaps would serve as a litmus test for a complete reopening of all levels of learning across the country.
