The Kebbi State Government has sought the services of volunteer security, hunters and forest security services in the state to provide security for electrical transformers across the state.

Kabiru Sani, Special Adviser, SA to the Kebbi State Governor on Power and Political Affairs, made this known shortly after meeting with members of the volunteer local security and Kebbi State Council of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security, Kebbi State Council, in Birnin Kebbi.

According to him, the engagement became necessary, following reported cases of vandalism of transformers and theft of armoured cables by miscreants in some communities.

He said it was very unfortunate that some men of the underworld were taking advantage of the current blackout in the state, following the fire incident that razed 90MVA (330KV/132KV) and 60MVA (132KV/33KV) transformers, supplying power to Kebbi, Sokoto, and parts of Zamfara States.

The SA charged the hunters to be vigilant in the nooks and crannies of the state, where the electrical gadgets were installed, to provide adequate security against theft.

He equally appealed to community members, particularly the youth, to be vigilant in their areas.

The State Commandant of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service, Musa Hussaini Rambo, thanked the Kebbi State Government and the Special Adviser on Power and Political Affairs for their support.

Rambo pledged the commitment of members of the association, to sustain regular patrols, and to provide security and protection for the transformers across the state.
