Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has accused a former Governor of the State of being the brains behind the purported invasion of the State House of Assembly by men of the Nigeria Police Force and an alleged plan to forcefully convene a sitting to inaugurate members- elect loyal to him.
Governor Obaseki who made this accusation in a statewide broadcast which held in Benin city also commended residents for standing firm by his administration and democracy.
The purported invasion of the Edo State House of Assembly, by men of the Nigeria Police force it was allegedly designed for members-elect loyal to the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole to take over the Assembly structure and convene sitting for their inauguration.
Chief Security Officer and Governor of the State, Godwin Obaseki gives an insight into the controversy that has trailed the seventh Assembly since 2019.
Governor Obaseki points an accusing finger at the ex-Governor, expressing worry that some persons are willing to compromise the peace in the State for personal reasons and draws the red line.
He commends residents for standing firmly by the State Government.
Obaseki assures that government will take necessary steps to defend democratic ideals.
