The Federal Government has handed over forty housing units to victims of banditry activities in Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria.

The Humanitarian Affairs minister was in Zamfara State to carry out several humanitarian interventions, among which were the handover of forty housing units to internally displaced persons, IDPs, the distribution of relief materials, the clean-up of the social register, and a visit to the Federal University in Gusau, to console with the institution over the abduction of twenty-five female students recently.

She assured Nigerians that the Tinubu administration is committed to ensuring it rescues the twelve remaining abducted students and improve security in tertiary institutions across the country.

She called on the international community to join forces with the President Tinubu-led Federal Government in collaboration with the Zamfara State Government, to adequately address the humanitarian crisis in Zamfara.

The Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, noted that before his administration took over the helm of affairs, the activities of bandits were common, resulting in the loss of thousands of lives, collapsed agriculture, destroyed livelihoods, and vast areas of rural territories being effectively controlled by bandits.

The Zamfara State Governor thanked the Tinubu-led Federal Government for the humanitarian interventions and asked for more, especially the housing scheme, for victims of banditry in Zamfara North and Western Senatorial Districts of the state.
