Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, says the country expects to produce 875,000 metric tonnes of wheat across production zones during the 2023 dry seasonal farming.
The minister,who said this during the unveiling of the Agriculture Sector Roadmap for 2023-2027 at a media conference in Abuja, listed certification of available planting materials for food security crops, aggressive promotion and preparation for dry season farming among as key priority areas to be focused on for sustainable food.

He further outlined the medium term actions for 2024 -2026 with emphasis on increasing dairy productivity target of annual growth rate of 10% year each year.
The minister highlighted the need for synergy between the ministries of Agriculture and Water Resources to promote irrigation farming to guarantee year- round food production.
