The Tiv people in North-Central Nigeria are blaming successive administrations in the country for lacking the political will to tackle insecurity and infrastructural development, especially in rural communities.

Member representing Gwer East-Gwer West Federal Constituency of Benue State in the House of Representatives, Austin Asema Achado, said this during a chat with journalists at the Annual General Meeting, AGM of OnTiv Professionals Association, OPA Abuja on Saturday in the nation’s capital.

Sons and daughters of Tiv nation from Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba States gathered in Abuja to find ways to best address the many socio-economic challenges confronting them as a people and Nigerians generally.

In different presentations at the AGM and reception for appointed and elected Tiv sons and daughters at national level, speakers identified the lack of political will on the part of past leaders to address insecurity across the country including Tiv nation.

They also expressed concerns over the high level of infrastructure decay across Nigeria, especially road networks. President of the Association, Abraham Aku and 2023 Governorship aspirant in Benue State, Godwin Tyoachimin made recommendations on how to reverse the trend.

The occasion also witnessed the investiture of three new members of the OPA Board of Trustees, BoT including Godwin Tyoachimin, Benjamin Nyoor, and Terzungwe Atser. They were sworn-in by the Association’s Legal Adviser, Elizabeth Kwaghbula in company of the BoT Chairman, Dr. Emmanuel Gemade.

The OnTiv Professionals Association Abuja is an organisation of Tiv sons and daughters who are working in Abuja and pursuing their different careers and are desirous of contributing to the development of their homeland and country.
