Nigeria And Egypt

The Egyptian government says it will strengthen its relationship with Nigeria, especially in the areas of military cooperation, security, and the global war on terror.

Egyptian Defence Attachè to Nigeria, Brigadier General Ahmed Ibrahim said this on Thursday in Abuja at the event to celebrate the 50th Egyptian Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces Day is a national holiday in Egypt and celebrated on 6th October as an anniversary of the start of the October War against Israel in 1973, when it attempted to regain territory lost during the 1967 Six-day war.

The day is also set aside to remember the Egyptian military personnel who died in the war and are widely viewed as martyrs by the people.

The holiday is usually marked by large military parades.
