No fewer than ten vehicles were burnt when a petroleum tanker laden with premium motor spirit exploded after it spilled its contents on the expressway.
According to the Southwest Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Ibrahim Farinloye, the accident occurred at Palex bus stop by Iganmu Bridge, Ijora at about 8pm Thursday.
Among the vehicles burnt include two buses, two cars, a trailer loaded with Sardines and detergent, an SUV, three flat-body trailers, two twenty-foot containers and two PMS tankers.

Twelve high-tension electric poles were said to have been affected by the inferno during the incident.
Though no one sustained injuries nor lives lost during the incident as the drivers and passengers jumped out of their vehicles and scrambled for safety.
Emergency response team who arrived shortly after the accident, battled for several hours to subdue the inferno from spreading any further.
