President Bola Tinubu has directed the Raw Materials Research and Development Council to immediately fast-track the creation of Technology and Innovation Centres across the six geo-political zones of the country.
Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji who disclosed this during a facility tour to the Council on Friday in Abuja, said the directive became necessary in line with the implementation of Presidential Executive Order Five to promote the nation’s capacity for economic development.
Minister said President Tinubu ordered the immediate replication of the Technology facility across Nigeria in line with his administration’s commitment to the country’s technological growth.
He said the directive is expected to create new businesses , generate employment and strengthen Nigeria’s position in the global market.
Available data from the National bureau of statistics, shows Nigeria spent at least N2.4tn on the importing raw materials in 2022.
