Taraba State targets improved healthcare services in rural areas

Taraba State Government has began implementation of its blueprint for improvement of healthcare services in rural areas. This follows interactive session with healthcare providers to get findings that will address factors responsible for the deterioration of service delivery in the health sector.

Governor Agbu Kefas has charged the participants to key into the State Government’s efforts to re-strategise healthcare service delivery in the State at the first meeting in years between the Taraba State Healthcare Services Management Board and representatives of healthcare stakeholders from the three senatorial districts.

The meeting targets to interface with those in charge of healthcare service delivery in rural areas of Taraba State, in line with the State Government’s blueprint for accessibility and quality healthcare to all.

One by one, the representatives outlined their challenges at the meeting, and also suggested ways to addressing such issues with consideration on the peculiarity of their environment.

Many of them have high hopes of been equipped with the support to efficiently carry out their duties effectively when they return to their localities.

The Governor who was represented by the State Commissioner of Health, Bodiya Buma and the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ahmed Kara say the State Government is out to change the narrative in hard-to-reach areas of the State with regards to quality healthcare delivery.

The Taraba State Health Services Management Board also received personal protective equipment for health workers from the World Health Organisation, WHO as the State approaches the Lassa fever disease outbreak season.
