A petrol tanker driver narrowly escaped death, when his tanker with a full load of motor spirit exploded and burnt to ashes along Dass, Tafawa in Bauchi, North-East Nigeria.
According to the eye witness account, the inferno started around 8 pm on Wednesday night near the gate of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi.
Reports said that the explosion rocked several houses at the Gwallameji, Rafin Zurfi area.

Men of the Nigeria Police and Federal Road Safety Corps, who were at the scene, said that three people were injured in an attempt to escape from the inferno.
