After two years of drafting, the “Modernizing Nigerian Immigration Service” initiative document is now ready for implementation.
The “Modernizing Nigerian Immigration Service” ( MoNIS) project seeks to address the career progression of female staff of the service and general gender mainstreaming mechanisms within the service.
Work on the project commenced in 2021, with four technical committee meetings in Abuja, Kano, Lagos, and Port Harcourt.
A draft document is now ready for the approval of the Ministry of Interior, which will serve as a policy guide for the Immigration service.
At the management retreat in Abuja where the document was subjected to review and adoption, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji Ojo and Acting Controller General of Immigration, Caroline Wurola – Adepoju commended the Danish Government, which funded the project saying the tenents of the draft documents align with Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu
