Nigerian Senate Begins Retreat On Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms In Akwa Ibom State

The Nigerian Senate has promised to support President Bola Tinubu to realize his 8-point Agenda and renew the hope of Nigerians.

The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio at the opening ceremony of A-2 day Retreat for Senators of the 10th National Assembly on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms says the Senate is determined to make bold contributions through legislations and oversight functions for the success of the President Tinubu administration.

The retreat which is holding in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, South-South Nigeria has brought together members of the 10th Senate and other stakeholders to brainstorm on the way forward in fiscal policy, and tax reforms for the country.

The Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio said the retreat will avail the lawmakers the opportunity to review some laws for the good of the country.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen; the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, and the Minister of Finance, Olawale Edun lauded the organisers of the retreat, adding that fiscal policy and reforms which the theme of the retreat focuses on is central to good national governance.

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umoh Eno, who was represented by his Deputy, Senator Akon Eyakenyi commended the Senate for finding the State conducive for the retreat and expressed the hope that gains from the brain storming sessions will birth robust fiscal policies and tax reforms for Nigeria.

The opening ceremonies of the retreat featured musical interlude and display by cultural groups from Akwa Ibom State.
