Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa says his resolve to create a functional movie village in the state is on course including plans of partnering with the private sector for the management of world-class facilities.
Governor Okowa made this known when he received in his office members of the association of movie producers in Nigeria who were in Delta State for their annual general meeting.
Okowa said the delta state government is currently building a film village in the state capital Asaba because movie producers have found the state to be of great importance in the film industry and have contributed to the state’s economy.
President of the association, Ralph Nwadike thanked Governor Okowa for the ongoing world class film village project being executed by his administration.
On his part, chairman board of trustees of the association, Zeb Ejiro and president of the Directors Guild of Nigeria, Fred Amata described Okowa as the first governor to have embarked on such a project and asked for their integration into the state’s tourism sector so as to make delta the hub of the movie industry in West Africa.

According to them, the film village will bring a new lease of life to the movie and entertainment industry in Nigeria.
