Construction of Daura University of Transportation begins next month

Nine months after the groundbreaking ceremony of the University of Transportation in Daura, Katsina State, construction work on the project will finally commence next month.

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy visit on Governor Aminu Masari at his official residence in the Government House Katsina, the state capital. He said all types of machinery have been put in place to deliver the project in good time.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the N18 billion University was performed by President Muhammadu Buhari on December 2, 2019, during his 5-day working visit to his home state.

Amaechi told the Governor that, he had just returned from the site of the project in Daura that, everything is good to go.

While expressing gratitude to Governor Masari for the provision of the land for the project, the Minister said currently the construction company is clearing the site and building the fence of the University.

Amaechi also told Masari that, they have now requested the Chinese company to include a primary and secondary school in the project adding that, a team from the Federal Ministry of Transport has accepted to do the consultancy on the project.

Responding, Governor Masari again expressed appreciation to the Minister for the citing of what he termed, “famous” University in Daura.

Masari while noting that the opportunities that come with education are limitless, assured the Federal Government that, his administration will do the best to continue supporting and providing whatever is necessary to make the execution of the University project a huge success.
