Zamfara State Government says the Federal Government’s ban on illegal mining in the state is still operational and as such, cautioned against the activity in the state.
The Commissioner for Environment and Solid Mineral Development, Nurudeen Isah, stated this during a visit to a mining site at Sauna community in Talata Marafa Local Government Area of the state, to enforce the ban.
According to the Zamfara State Environment and Solid Mineral Development Commissioner, he was at the said mining site to enforce and ensure that nobody is operating at any of the sites after a miner claimed that the Sole Administrator of Talata Marafa, Abubakar Musa, confiscated his mining site.
He reechoed the ban on mining activities in the state over eight months ago due because of its link with insecurity in the state.
Musa, who debunked the allegation that he confiscated the mining site, said he was at the mining site to enforce the ban on the activities across the state.

The Chairman House Committee on Environment and Solid Mineral Development, Aminu Jangebe, revealed that the state legislature is working on a bill which will help to address the issue of illegal mining in the state.
